  1. I loved reading your review and I am forced to admit that I feel like the book was majorly over-sold to you. 🤣🤣🤣 It’s been one of my favorite books since high school, because it’s a simple, slow, thoughtful story. It was recommended in an interview with my favorite band, and they were laughing about the subtitle being “A fable about following your dreams.” When I first read it, I was reading a lot of heavy distopian literature (like 1984 and Brave New World), so it provided a fairly dramatic break from that darkness and brokenness.
For me, it kind of shores up that idea that the most important things are worth waiting and working for, no matter how difficult that is. I like the symbolism, the discussion about omens and signs. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU about the speed, but to me that’s deliberate, showing part of that self-actualization process. It’s easy to SEE what is wrong or what you want to change when you’re all up in lots of fast-paced events… but to plant the seeds of progress and protect the changes you want to make, you’ve got to slow down and be still and take in resources.
